I can buy a used Dell power edge rack mount server from a local computer reuse store. it has a 2.6 gh Xeon processor and 4 gb of ram cant remember the hard drive size but that is not really a problem. the question is could this be re-purposed for home use, gaming, general internet/word processing, firewall, cloud(not all these things together just thoughts as to separate things I might want to use it for.

Unless you're planning on running something like a Minecraft server or another gaming server that does not require a GPU, then no.
You could....but I don't see why you would want to.
You could run Pfsense on it if you want to play around with a software firewall.
Depends on what you're talking about. You could install some NAS software on it and run it as a NAS.
You wouldn't really want to.
What specific model is it? Some of the older Xeons suck a lot of power.
