Factory-resetting an iCloud-locked iPhone 6

^How can I do this? My friend bought a used iPhone 6 online for $100 and it won't let him in. It says that the device is disabled and needs an iCloud password to get in. He tried to message them and ask for the password and they told him to f*** off and blocked him on Facebook, so now he can't contact the seller.

Is there a way we can hack into the phone and just do a factory wipe so its like new?

Have him use itunes to wipe phone, if it still asks for original seller's ID then he's out of luck. This is why apple sucks.

Nope he's pretty much screwed. I have people come in at work all the time and we just tell them to contact Apple. I don't understand why they do this, so many circumstances could lead you to needing a reset and not have access to the info and most people don't even realize they have an Apple ID set up with it.

Dang that's too bad. Well, thank you anyhow! :)

Did the seller say the phone was locked? An iPhone 6 is worth well over $100, the reason it's that cheap is most likely because the phone was lost/stolen, and they are trying to make a quick buck.

No.

Why is this because Apple sucks? This is a security measure to deter people from stealing phones and selling them, since once they are locked they are effectively bricks. Android does this as well...

That's why there are many ways to reset your Apple ID password, using security questions, email recovery, etc. If you don't know your iCloud password, can't answer your own security questions, don't have access to your secondary email, or aren't able to receive SMS messages to your phone number, then it's your fault for being an idiot. This is a security measure to limit the value of stolen iPhones.

While you're not exactly wrong I don't think you appreciate how many people are clueless of any of these concepts. The idea that you can recover a password via an email is magic to so many people.

That's what Apple support is for, they are more than happy to walk you through it. Of course they can't simply reset it on request because I could steal your phone, call Apple up, and play dumb so I could sell the phone myself.
