Is a 1TB SSD reliable?

Hey there,

I am about to buy a new laptop for a college program, going back to school.
The laptop I want is a Dell XPS 15.
The program is saying I need a 1TB hd.
If I get a laptop with a small SSD and a large HD, it will take up battery room, which I don't want.

My question is,
Is a 1TB SSD safe and reliable? I've heard and read mixed things about large ssd's.
I am ok spending the money on a big SSD if it means I dont have to use an external HD.

Thanks!

Does not compute!! A second drive will not take up battery space.
I've done quite a bunch of research on the XPS models and going with a regular HD with the small ssd will cut down on the battery size. Check their website and XPS configurations

Thats what I'm thinking too. Batteries are on the top while hard drives are stored on the bottom of the back cover.

No I don't mean endurance. With a ssd and a Hd, it cuts the battery size down which then makes it a 56kwh battery instead of a 97kwh battery. If I get the configuration with just the m.2 ssd, then it will have room for the larger 97kwh battery.
