I wouldn't be aiming to buy a 3 year old 4th gen CPU now... we are well into the 7th gen now.

You can run that 1070 at 16x with that CPU, but I would just question what power supply you are using and what wattage? Thats more what matters.

I honestly don't know how great your gaming performance will be as that i3 is very low-end and that would be the bottleneck.

I assume you already have a cooler on the processor right?

Things don't magically for die if say your gpu is substantially faster than what the CPU can provide.

It's more of a misappropriation of funds than anything.

well i have some problems cz if a buy a 7th gen cpu i would need a mobo that can support it..with that i would need new ram and i cannot spend all that money cz a dont really have that much..so i was just planing on buying an 4th gen i7 later on. im gonna buy a 750 watt power supply form a reputed brand with the GPU..and yes i have a cooler on that processor but i have some extra money..so i was thinking of buying a new cooler..so my current processor wont be dead right cz..it can take like 9 months for me to buy the i7..this is what you get if you love gaming and your poor..and have to work and study at the same time and save some money..and the reason im asking if my cpu is gonna survive is im gonna sell it later.

You definitely don't need a 750W power supply...I'm running a 1080TI and use a 650W Corsair.

The i3 will be fine... it can't be overclocked and it would be fine even with a cheapo stock intel heatsink/fan.

Just an FYI..that CPU isn't gonna fetch you much money at all....so I wouldn't think to much about preserving its resale value. I see one on ebay going for $12 usd..

Well, thats up to you, I'm certainly happy with my power supply, but it may be too much in your country?? not sure

I'm majorly concerned here that the socket type is different. You're going from a very old I3, to a high end I7. I really doubt your motherboard will support that.
