RAM issue

Hi there, so I have 16GB of RAM, and now and then after using my computer for a bit it will for no good reason be using up to 11 or 12 GB idle and I have to restart. Any reason for this? Ways to avoid it?

I would look at task viewer and see what is consuming the RAM. To get to task manager (and I'm not sure if this works in 10 or not) right click the task bar below and select "Start task manager." After doing that look at the Processes tab and over to the Memory column. Tell us what's consuming the most RAM. Could be a number of things combined.

To get to task manager in any recent version of Windows all you have to do is press Ctrl + Shift + Esc.

No way!

But right clicking the task bar is easier. In anything Win Vista and up you are presented this asinine page and then you have to select task manager. With XP, Ctl + Alt+ Del brought the task manager up right away. The same can be accomplished with a right click on the task bar. Which is now my preferred way to do it.

I guess that depends on whether your hand is on the mouse or on the keyboard. I'm so used to doing it, it only takes me two fingers to press it.
