0xxx0000225 error

My windows 10 laptop is giving an error 0xc0000225 I just need to access a few files from the hard drive, not restore Windows. I tried accessing them by booting a linux mint live disk but received an error saying that the filesystem is unclean. Those files are very important. I do not have a Windows 10 restore disc, just the original windows 7 disc. Does anybody know how to access that hard drive?

If you're unable to mount it in linux it sounds like the drive is failing.

Those files are very important.

As always, create backups on another storage medium for important data.

You could run a diagnostic on the hard drive to see if its failing or just corrupt, the diagnostic may be able to fix it.

Fortunately, I found some backups of most of the files, I am not sure what was going on. I formatted the drive and reinstalled the OS and it seems to be fine

I'd still run some long scan diagnostics against it.
