Solved Noob help with processor!

I have a Intel (R) Pentium (r) CPU J3710 1.60GHz. This is a brand new Dell touch screen all in one I bought for the wife. 4gb of RAM, 1TB hard drive. Here's the issue. It is slower than molasses. And I want to know what is the best processor I can replace the above mentioned processor with. Any help is much appreciated. And just for information, everything on it is still factory, no new programs, no background programs, etc. The computer was purchased for mostly Facebooking, blogging, surfing the web and it doesn't even like doing that. So thanks for any future help.

Hi, what is the specific model of Dell? Your options may be limited for two reasons: a) all-in-one systems can be a bit of a pain to disassemble, b) OEM motherboards may use the standard Intel or AMD sockets, but often don't support all of the processors made for that socket.

A better idea may be replace the HDD (which is likely a slow 5400 RPM one) with an SSD and install Windows fresh onto that. Chances are that'll make more of a difference than upgrading the CPU for the uses you mentioned.

With all in one computers about the only thing you can do to upgrade is ram and hard drive. However, it seems its a quad core processor but at a low speed of 1.4ghz. My guess is that its loaded down with startup applications that is slowing everything down. Also only having 4gb of ram is killing you, should have at least 8gb. As spirit says, upgrading to an SSD drive would be the best thing to do or try selling the system and get something better. Did you get the all in one because of space requirements?

Thank you for the info so far. Here's a screenshot of the specs. I have turned off all start up programs. I plan on upgrading to a solid state hard drive and to 8gb of Ram. So upgrading the processor will probably not help this system at all? Thank you for your help

Unfortunately all that does is show us your specs, not tell us the model of the machine.

You should just upgrade to an SSD and 8GB RAM, yes.
