Wife's laptop slow

Typical nonsense on there but I THINK I cleaned it up some. Been a LONG time since I worked on OS stuff like cleaning out startup programs. Is there a decent/safe way to show WHAT is on her laptop as far as programs running and figure out how to shut everything off that does not need to be on and get rid of any bloatware?

She DOES use it for work so there is information that is private but I KNOW there really is crap on there that is not needed.

MalwareBytes
AdwCleaner
CCleaner
Disable startup programs from task manager
Uninstall unused programs

Do you know the specs of the laptop? If it a cheap POS there really won't be much to do but increase amount of ram and use an SSD. But run what Darren recommended and go from there.

I THINK I did that already but it HAS been a while. Ill run it all again. When she got it, I believe I did a decent job of not getting junk but BTH I hate getting laptops just because there is not much you can do upgrade wise.

I will run that stuff tonight and then post the results :-)

ok, so there were a couple errors found by ADWcleaner, they are cleaned up,
Malwarebytes found nothing
and I accidentally changed OTL to 365 days and scan all users (because I do NOT know how to read directions) BUT it is all set. Rebooting as I type this.

Uninstalled
Avast Cleanup Premium Install (some can not be installed Automatically but can be removed manually
How?
Dragon assistant WTF is this!?!

What is the deal with 10 different Visual C++ redistributale versions?

PCLoad letter!!!

When you installed avast you needed to do a custom install and only install the file, behavior and web shields. They are the first 3 boxes on the left hand side. uncheck everything else. All you need to do now is go into programs and features and click on change and then uncheck every other option but those 3 i mentioned.

Dragon assistant I believe is installed along with dragon naturally speaking program.

Not sure about pcload letter.

PCLoad letter is a joke reference to Office Space :-)

but good to know I will go update that. Also I have gone thru the device manager and updated everything. one by one is a PITA lol

ok... so it seems like that avast driver update thing may have been the major culprit. granted i went thru manually all the devices in the Device Manager and updated a bunch of them which may have helped. Boots faster also :-)

Is there a decent program that searches for the best drivers for you that is NOT a big hog?

Its called doing it manually lol. Don't use any of those so called driver update programs as most of them are malware. And basically you really don't need to update drivers or bios unless its fixes an issue you are currently having with your system.

Windows 10 automatically handles drivers. You shouldn't have to touch them but if you do get them from the manufacturer. All those softwares even from legit companies, are a waste of resources or downright scam.

Windows does a great job handling drivers in my experience. Haven't had to manually install a driver in ages.
