Fallout 76: Worth it? Never Played Fallout. Tempted to buy for PC

Hey guys so as the title says I've never played Fallout games before. I got someone selling me Fallout 76 for PC for $25 is it worth it? will I get more than 20 hours of game time out of it?

Or should I wait 3 or 4 more months and wait for it to be like $10 or $15?

Thanks guys.

Umm you might have a better time with the Fallout 3, New Vegas, or 4 versions (make sure its GOTY).

You know I just bought Fallout 3 GOTY and 4 (Standard) during the Holiday sales but I haven't played them yet.

I played the BETA for Fallout 76 and love the way the game looked and felt, just wasn't sure if there was more to it or if it was pretty shallow can't rely on Metacritic scores anyway.
I can get FO 76 for $25 seemed like a pretty good deal. Wasn't sure if I should grab the offer while I had it or maybe wait 3 or 4 months and prices might go down even more.

Don't. I'm amazed you're even considering it with all the backlash. ESPECIALLY when you haven't even touched 4 which is miles better with the same engine/gameplay mechanics from the sounds of it.

Hahaha okay true true. I just didn't take all the negative backlash serious honestly, I thought people were just complaining to complain (Metacrtic) so I was asking on here to get a few honest responses.

76 is a dumpster fire. My friend is a massive Fallout fan. Has hundreds of hours in each. He returned his pre order after the beta. And I've seen this guy buy 50 dollar games and not even play them.

LM*O I am the opposite. I really enjoyed the BETA hahaha. I love the vibe and the graphics, just didn't get enough of it to be sure what I was getting into in full if I bought it.

I think I am going to give it 3 or 4 months see if the price Drops to around $20 to buy it. I mean it has to be "OKayish" for $20.

Honestly believe it or not? I didn't like Skyrim, I bought it 2 years ago played it for 18 hours and didn't want to keep playing it. Fallout 76 BETA was lots of fun I like what I saw and "Tasted" (lol) but I know that's barely a scratch on the Surface, so what if hte rest of the game is doodoo you know?

Appreciate your input Admin, I really do. Hopefully more people will comment on here to get different feedback about the game. As of now I am going to wait for price to drop, which reasonably it should as bad as everyone says it is. I saw it go for $30 on eBay, like I said for now going to wait. So many new games coming out in the next couple of months I'll be entertained with something else.

Appreciate it.

I never truly got sucked into a Bethesda game until I tried Fallout 4. Give it a shot, you'll probably like it a lot as the feel is very similar. I def enjoyed Skyrim but yeah FO4 sucked me in like none of the others could. I know it's not a very faithful game to the rest of the franchise but it's still a good game.

That legit sounds like me but I know it's not and that confuses me even more.

Here's an actual response quoted from another thread on the same topic:

I put 12 hours in the beta and about 6 since launch. It's nothing at all what I hoped it would be and it isn't remotely what I would expect from a full price game. The engine reworks didn't seem to fix anything at all and the stereotypical Bethesda bugs are present, which before wasn't an issue because it was single player but now that it's not, it's become a big issue with exploits, random glitches, quests and events not providing rewards, poor navmesh's and NPC AI, etc... Not to mention the half-baked features and ones that weren't/aren't there to begin with.

Above all, my absolute biggest issue, is the game looks no different from Fallout 4 as far as graphics quality/fidelity goes, yet somehow runs like complete and total horseshit. My rig has trouble keeping 60FPS at 1440p on the lowest possible settings. Not to mention I can't turn VSync off or the DOF effects or motion blur or any of that crap because Bethesda didn't pull that into the game menus from the .ini file (yet another issue generated by taking a franchise and engine and features that worked fine in singleplayer and porting it to multiplayer).

In short, I honestly want a refund but I won't ask for one in the hopes the game gets substantial patches and fixes down the road (plus I got the Power Armor edition and I like my collectibles at least (despite the helmet being cheap and the Duffle Kerfluffle©).
