Minimum requirements for a fast Browsing Laptop?

I have a laptop with a worst performance in browsing. It has an AMD E1-7010 1.6 Ghz dual core processor with 2Gb RAM and a Radeon R2 GPU running windows 10 and 60Gb SSD. The desktop performance is horrendous with apps taking too long to startup, most browsers, including chrome are very slow at opening and loading pages, even with high speed internet. Many web pages stutter when scrolling. Even my Android TV set top box has better performance.
So I ask what are the recommended laptop requirements (processor, RAM, SSD etc) for fast performance where apps open up instantaneously, browsers are fast, etc.
My brother has a decent gaming rig where zip files extract at lightning speed and programs install within seconds. But it is a desktop and I need a laptop equivalent with such performance.

What's your budget?

Pretty much anything 'reasonable'. That specific CPU and small amount of RAM make it poopy. Also depends on what other crap you have on the PC. Most vaguely recent laptops will give you a decent browsing experience.

More ram would definitely help as 2gb is painfully slow. Which model of SSD does it have?

As long as we're being picky, "Than", "Not" and "Then" should not be capitalized.

For the task at hand, I agree with beers and johnb35. From the benchmarks of similar SSDs, I couldn't find the exact model, but it seems like it's fast enough. Since your system has 2GB of RAM, I would expect a lot of swapping.

Wow, you must be an English teacher/professor. All I can say is that English wasn't my favorite. So I can really care less if its then or than. No worries guys, I'll still do my best to help others. :cool::D:p

Nope. CPU absolutely affects speed, that's the point. Old slow CPU's can't even handle browsing anymore. The reason Chromebooks are so fast is a super lightweight OS and still relatively new hardware, even if it is low end compared to other new stuff. Those AMD E1 chips were junk, so not surprised it's slow with that CPU.

I was under the impression this only affects tasks such as gaming etc?

I’ve read cases where SSD’s speeded up the computer, first piece of advice of mine is that, then to upgrade the CPU.

An SSD speeds up loading/downloading times only. It'd be an improvement, but like Darren said, the CPU still has to process data, a process that takes time. Older CPU's take longer nowadays because of the more demanding apps. If the computer was a bit newer, maybe 3-4 years old then I'd suggest popping in a SSD first, but in this case it is most likely the old CPU not being able to keep up.

This is true for newer stuff as most modern CPU's are good enough for basic usage but that AMD chip in particular is notoriously slow and upgrading other stuff won't change that. Like I said, Chromebook probably has a better CPU.

I was under the impression that new processors are more efficient but not necessarily more powerful. My i7 processor is 1.8 ghZ.

It's running Windows 10, an OS not developed for it, and quite a hefty one at that. Google Chrome is also a heavyweight program. So, it makes sense.

Absolutely. You've got a lot to learn about what goes into computer performance. I don't mean that in a condescending way, but do some research and educate yourself on hardware a bit more before giving out advice. You listing your clock speed is essentially pointless as performance per clock varies across chips so another at 2.2GHz could be faster or slower. That's not even bringing in cores or thread count. I'd hope you would at least know that much given your username but apparently not. :p
