What the heck is this?

Hello All;
I was in my windows registry yesterday and seen this. Can anyone explain this to me? I really don't want to have to do a re-stall of windows. Everything is running great on it. Probably some program, but don't have a clue what it might be. Has anyone ever come across something like this before?

Back in the day that usually meant malware. Have you ran Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner lately?

Malwarebytes runs every day, I have the premium version. And it says it is clean. I will download adwcleaner. And run that then.

Well, Adwcleaner found something and they were deleted. Thank you, John. Here is what it found.

Well, for the time being. I took out Avast and went with the Windows Defender. At least it has ransomware free with defender than have to pay for it with Avast. And Windows Defender found something else, (SoftwareBundle:Win32/DealPly). Go figure. After that, I reboot and ran defender again (Full Scan) this time, took 2.5 hrs. It came back clean. And rebooted after that. lol. Still that Chinese is in the registry.

I doubt you'll get rid of it without manually removing it. CCleaner registry cleaner might catch it too.

I just run Defender, really don't need anything else unless you have "at risk browsing habits".

Ran CCleaner registry cleaner earlier, cleaned up some broken links there also. I didn't even know ccleaner had a registry cleaner there till this morning. lol.

Those files it removed were minor and wouldn't cause what you are seeing. Can you post screenshots of your installed programs in programs and features? You should see the same symbols either in program name or publisher column.

I hope this helps John, but also. I did not see anything in the title or otherwise with the Chinese characters.

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing anything in there that would possibly put those symbols in the registry. May have once been installed and now removed but never fully deleted. However, if you click on one of them what data shows up on the right? One of them should give you an idea of what program its attached to.

Well, thanks for all the help John. I looked and it didn't give me anything. Even copied the key name and tried the google translator. Still nothing.

I would go trough all the registry-entries one by one to see if I could find any searchpath to files inside these entries.

Have you done that?

I did, and they were none. Got tired of it and deleted all the folders with the Chinese letters and rebooted and hoped for the best. It rebooted fine, and the only thing was messed up was a store app called "Excel Mobile". Otherwise, I can't find anything else wrong. And since I got rid of Avast earlier, maybe that is why there was no path in those folders with Chinese letters. And I have a clear registry again. I'm happy. Thanks for all the help tho, this is a great place and all the members are great too. I considered this a closed subject now.
