WIndows 10 What would benefit me more - an SSD or more RAM?

I'm running this configuration:
Athlon II X2 250 3Ghz
4 GB RAM
and Windows 10 is terribly slow and unresponsive at times. I don't game, just use FFox with a lot of tabs. Would I benefit more from getting and SSD and putting my Windows and programs on that, or from getting an additional 4 GB of RAM?
I currently have a single HDD.

How many tabs are you talking about? Actually if you can swing both, do it. You really do need 8gb for better performance these days. Firefox and Chrome tend to eat memory with running lots of tabs, more Chrome then Firefox but still. Have you ran Ccleaner, Malwarebytes and Adwcleaner yet? You can get a decent SSD nowadays for dirt cheap at least you can here in the USA.

It depends on how much you're willing to spend and on your motherboard. The Athlon II X2 250 supports both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM and is quite an old platform.

Did you upgrade to Windows 10 or install it independently? How much are you willing to spend?

If you can, do both but if you must choose one over the other, I would go with an SSD over more RAM. I think the performance improvement of adding an SSD to a system is much more dramatic than that of adding more RAM.

It varies in the 30-50 range at present, but in the past I used to have much more than that open with no performance problems. This thing with W10 being slow has been something that's come on gradually and has lately become a bit too much.

I ran CCleaner, but there hasn't been any performance change.

MW and AW are pending. I ran MW when I left the house this morning but it froze and did nothing lol

It was an independent upgrade. I'm not sure yet whether I'll be buying anything. W10 used to run fine for me and I'm hoping to get back to that with either removing malware or reinstalling Windows (or going to Linux).

It depends on your usage. If you want to upgrade your system for softwares or programs, then you should upgrade your RAM and if you want to Increase the speed of the system and other functionalities then you can upgrade from HDD to SSD.
