Firewall woes.

Hello all,

I have been encountering issues with not being able to turn ON my firewall. It was happening the same way on my laptop (windows 10), and also on my very recently acquired (used) desktop, which ALSO has windows 10 Professional. On both machines, I had visited an area where information was posted on the matter. The suggestion was to 'Restart' the firewall. However, I found that the 'Restart' button was grayed out. Hopefully, someone could help me rise above this dilemma. I have attached a screenshot of an error message that I always receive, when I try to turn on the firewall.

  1. Press the Windows Key +R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type in “cmd” (no quotes) and hit Enter to open Command Prompt.
  3. Once the Command Prompt is up, execute the commands below, one by one:
  • netsh advfirewall reset
  • net start mpsdrv
  • net start mpssvc
  • net start bfe
  • regsvr32 firewallapi.dll

net start mpssvc

Thanks for trying to help me. However, either my attempts at following your directions weren't as they should've been, or there is a truly problematic situation with my desktop. After the first four, of the five commands you had listed, I received an 'access denied' notice. after the fifth (and last) one, I the attached screenshot will show what I received.
