Motherboard replacement. Do I need to install Windows again?

Sent my Aorus Z390 board for RMA I am going to be getting a replacement of the same motherboard I sent in. I believe this one will be refurbished but it's the same exact model I had Z390 Aorus PRO.

Anyway it's getting here next week. Will I have to install Windows again?

Was Hoping I wouldn't have to reformat my HDD.

Thanks in advance

You shouldn't get anything, since its the exact same motherboard. It will detect the same hardware, so it won't ask for reactivation.

Can confirm... swapping dead mobo with a new mobo that is the same model will not trigger any reactivation. Done it before.

How do yall keep killing your boards? :p
Mine was 3 weeks old and suddenly it shorted on me. It would not boot into bios and it was stuck on a constant restart loop. Kept restarting for 2 seconds and shutting off again on its own. No idea how it happened. Gigabyte is sending me a replacement.

Quick question. Same thing should apply to drivers right? Sorry I am bored just wanna be sure. Paid gigabyte $12 for 3 day shipping can't wait for the board to get here. Hope they honor the shipping fee and give me the tracking info as well. Worried they gonna overlook it and send it standard shipping. If they do guess is no big deal but I am going to ask for a refund for the shipping. RMA ticket says they shipped it yesterday (Saturday) but I know they only open M-F.

Anyway this is extra stuff. You guys are great. Glad I am part of this Forums.

Cheers;):)

You really shouldn't have to do anything on the software end. It should literally plug right in with the rest of your existing system and Windows would operate as if you never replaced anything.

Just remember to boot off the correct drive.

Perfect and sorry for all the dumb questions. Really appreciate it guys. One of my favorite computer forums right here.

That's all I got for now. Cheers

However if you had any specialized bios settings different from default, you would have to set those up again. But yeah thats all you do, replace the board and go about your business.
