Recommendations under $400?

Hi there!

I am looking for a backup computer that will mainly be used to check email, surf the web, maybe stream netflix/amazon prime.

Ideally I would like 8gb ram or more, but honestly I'm not a computer expert so maybe theres a 4gb option that would run faster than 8gb ram options depending on other specs?

Really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

I feel like 8 is kind of the bare minimum these days.

Pretty much anything should facilitate what you want, just ensure it has a solid state drive and if it's AMD it says 'ryzen' somewhere.

Yeah how can I tell if it's dual ram though? Is that typically listed in specs? I havent seen it in the few laptops ive looked at...

Most of them don't tell you and most laptops come with a single RAM stick. For your use cases single channel vs dual channel won't make a noticeable difference, and a notebook with a single stick is 'easier' cost wise since you can just buy another stick. I'd just avoid the super cheap ones that have soldered in RAM or a single RAM slot.
