Was using my desktop yesterday as normal when the screen goes black. Notice the monitor led light is orange. I check the tower and the noticed that the power led light was off but all fans are running. As recommended I did hard reset, pushed the power button and all fans go on but again the power led light is dark and there is no signal to the monitor. Left it on for 5 minutes and suddenly the computer boots up as normal. After a few minutes of use the monitor goes black again and now I notice the power led light on the tower is orange. Also as recommended I updated the PSU but still experiencing the same issues. Any help will be appreciated!

I noticed you have threads on different forums going already with no real good idea of whats going on. Sounds like you have an issue with the motherboard/onboard video. This is an old system and they don't last forever.

However, you can try resetting the cmos. Do this.

Unplug power from power supply, remove cmos battery from motherboard, press and hold power button on case for 10 seconds, then wait 10 minutes. Then reinsert battery, reconnect power supply cord and then try booting up. Please notice all bios settings will be changed back to default when you bought the pc. If you changed anything, you will have to go in and change it to what it should be.

Thanks Johnb35 for the suggestion but no go with the cmos battery removal. I'm thinking new motherboard or better yet a new tower. What say you?
