Customer Advisory Regarding Intel CPU Instability – BIOS Update

A PSA from my technical folks at work:

Certain Dell/Alienware Desktop Systems, built with a 13th/14th generation Intel processor, may encounter instability symptoms. Dell Technologies is recommending an immediate upgrade to the latest BIOS to maintain optimal system performance and to avoid experiencing this issue.

Although you may not have encountered the issue described in this Customer Advisory, Dell Technologies strongly recommends that you perform the suggested upgrade as soon as possible.

Dell recommends installing BIOS updates from 5/2/25 and later to fix this issue.

There has been known issues with 13th and 14th gen cpu's for quite some time. I'm not sure about retail motherboard updates but it seems Dell has updates available.

I have the 14600K and haven't noticed any issues.

Hmm they are usually on top of that lol I didn’t see the last date on the article which was in May.

So I guess as long as the BIOS has been updated since May 2nd, we should be good :)

Yeah, been known for awhile. Most have a bios update. There were two microcode updates unless something has changed Ox12B and Ox12F

You're talking about updates to the CPUs themselves? That means that newer CPUs should have fewer issues than older ones? I have a 14900KS that I picked up at the end of March, but I haven't built a system yet.

No, microcode updates are done through the bios of the motherboard. It is not a hardware change to the CPU. Hardware changes would be typically marked by a "Stepping" change. They used to etch the stepping on the IHS, but I don't believe that practice is done anymore.
