HeatSink Fan issues//

Ive Noticed that my computer has been crashing due to heating issues. Im planning to buy an extra case fan and place it on the side, but i just checked Everest and i learned that the factory installed heatsink fan (made by intel) they gave me only runs at around 1050rpm. My computer is a pentium D 3.0 ghz and ive heard this processor has horrible heating issues. I want to know if there is any way to speed up the heatsink fan or if this fan is not working properly so i can replace it with a zalman CNPS9500 LED or ask the company i bought it from to get me a new heatsink.

if so
should i install the zalman heatsink or buy a case fan if the factory installed heatsink they gave me is working properly?

thanks..

Personally, I would replace the heatsink, if it doesn't void any warranties. And don't forget to use good thermal paste.

D's do run hot, but with a good compound and heatsink it's not an issue. My D 940 idles at 32*C and the AS-5 isn't even fully cured yet. I use a Masscool heatsink - best bang for the buck at $10.

Go into BIOS and Disable any and all Auto-fan speed settings. THis will cause your CPU heatsink fan to run at full blast and hopefully partly resolve some heat issues too.

Disable SMART fan in BIOS or use SpeedFan to try to raise the RPMs...

Go for an Zalman 9700.. the 9500 has noise issues...
