So I got a new computer. It says it takes PC100/PC133.

Does this mean it takes either? or is that just one thing? Or what. becuase in my old computer I had two sticks of PC100 and i was wondering if it would go in there?

yup, they'd both fit, obviously it's not a newer computer lol, in his house it's new, probrably what he ment...

I bought it off craigslist for 100 dollars. haha. It actually runs kinda fast. It has 3 slots for Ram.

I had a question though. Im sure I know the answer.....

Athlon 1 Ghz or should I upgrade to Sempron (sp) 2 Ghz

Haha. I do believe it does support it. Its a socket A. so why wouldnt it?

And ummmm........ im not trying to be rude at all, k? Buttt. Who said anything about laptops? haha. Theres a reason I posted in the desktop section. : ]

Becuase just because it is the same socket doesn't mean it will support it. Umm and if it is running decently fast then why is there a need to upgrade just because the cpu would be 1ghz faster doesn't mean it would make that big of a difference since you are going from an athlon to a sempron, although semprons aren't that bad of budget chips.

Also a thing to remember about your ram is if you have pc 133 in the computer already and you put in some pc100 it will drop all of your rams speed to pc 100.

lol, whoops, didnt look lol, thought it was a laptop, yeahh, it probrably only supports up 2 like 1.4GHZ...

Well i use alot of music programs that require a bit more processing power. Which would be better then... 768 of PC 133? orrr. 1.5 Gigs of a mix of 100 and 133?

So much i dont know!!

Well it really depends. Most likely the 768MB of pc133. Most music programs don't need a ton of ram, particularly over 1GB. And are you sure your motherboard can even handly 1.5GB of ram, just something to check on. You could try it with both combinations and see which works better. Try the 1.5GB of ram running at pc100 speeds and see how much ram you use up when maxing it out. If it is under 768MB or close to it, then swap over to the pc133.

Oh I have the motherboard manual. It says up to 1.5 GB. By music programs, Im talking about Sonar and Reason and Cubase. I run them through ReWire, which means they have to run simutaneously.

Ok well that is what I mean just test it with the 1.5 GB or ram, all of which will run at pc 100, if its using up like 1.25GB of ram of 1GB of ram then stick with the 1.5GB if not switch over to the faster pc 133.
