Is $105 a good price for a Dual Core CPU?

I have a Pentium D 805 and it is hands down awesome. It handles just about everything I can throw at it. It's great for the price. I payed $109.99 for mine from Newegg about 6 weeks ago.

Yep intel pentium D's are cheap, but a good deal for the price. You have to remember they are really for the most part 2 generations old already, core if you want to count it, and core 2. You can pick up really good deals and for under a $100 its gotta be the best dual core available.

Didn't THG do an article on getting the 805 to 4ghz on standard watercooling, and getting it into the 3.2-3.5Ghz range with the Zalman 92mm cooler?

I was looking at www.laptops4me.com and they seem to be more computer builder friendly site. If you are a computer builder like me i like websites that just have computer builder hardware. I hate websites that sell everything under the sun just to make buck.

Newegg has the same products, but cheaper.

They have very good customer service. When you place an order, you usually get iton your doorstep in 2-3 days, and their return policy is terrific as well!

Ya newegg, zipzoomfly and tigerdirect are the stores to check for the cheap stuff.

Zipzoomfly is one to leave off that list from complaints I've heard about them. When looking over price tags there they have been on the higher side quite often. Mwave gets better reviews while being higher then newegg on a good number of items. But they offer two things different. The first is shipping everything at one time while newegg ships items separately. The second is that Mwave accepts money order for those without charge cards! For pc cases(custom, stock) check out xoxide.com there for some good prices.

I normally go newegg, never had any issues, but the few times I have use zipzoomfly everything has been great, and yes normally they are a few dollars more then newegg for lots of things but they offer free shipping a ton, so you end up saving money.

And I could configure a server one my own, so, or get free help from here.

I needed to build a sever for a customer of mine and I called laptops4me for help and they have a dedicated server guy to help you configure your server. You get what you pay for.

Have you ever tried newegg? they kick every other online store's arse, sorry to say.

Newegg the King of Online computer stores. lol, newegg rocks. Especially there 1 year RMA policy, I have had a 7800gt from there for like 9 months and its going down, but I can still rma it there.

Dealing with newegg is relatively new here. But mwave always shipped out everything in one or two packages while seeing a possible one day gap there. Newegg has one thing come in on tuesday, another thursday, and third on saturday... where you end up scratching your head. They have some good prices for individual items. Some are also supposed to have free shipping there as well as what is seen at zipzoomfly.

Well normally newegg ships out on different days because they have werehouses all over the US. Like for me the packages from california have never taken more then 2 days to get to me. But like the ones from New jersey will take like 4, but thats understandable because one is less then a days trip from me and the other is clear accross the country.

Let's see a WD2500JS goes for $79.20 at http://www.laptops4me.com/product_i...-sata2-7200rpm-8mb-hard-drive/products_id/697 and $79.99 at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144417 I get to save $.79! Let's see what mwave and TigerDirect sell the same or similar model for.
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA21500 saves $1.99 over newegg for a different model 250gb WD drive. TigerDirect loses at $84.99 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=564538&CatId=0

LOL you really like mwave don't you. Maybe I'll try them out sometime.

Mwave has one thing that zipzoomfly apparently doesn't according to someone who has repeatedly ordered from them. A good return policy. When a friend recently received two dead boards in a row he asked what should he do? Go with a third of the same make+model? I then cautioned that they probably got a bad batch of Asus A8N SLI Premium model boards in. I then recommended either choosing a different model or going with MSI or another brand to get a board. Mwave sent the third different model board out before he could even repack the bad boards for return.

The AMD64 3800+ X2 has run smooth on that board since. He likes the four 120mm fans on NZXT case while following advice to get a different supply. Where mwave stood by him there he was one that got stiffed a few times at zipzoomfly. Mwave is usually lower then TigerDirect where that was one regular vendor there for awhile. Despite even lower prices at newegg the one part here on tuesday and the other two days later with the last on saturday can be a nuisance when you need it all in one day.
