liteon dvd compatibility

i have a liteon dvd+rw burner. ive burned data to a dvd+rw disk, but for some reason, i cant burn any to a dvd+r. when i look in "my computer", the icon says dvd-rw.
what blank media should i use?

if you can burn an rw you can burn a r just try one it should work and recently a lot of companies have put out firmware updates for newer dvd's check and make sure you have the newest ones

ive already tried. the dvd plus r wont work, but the dvd plus rw will. im just wondering why the physical drive itself says plus rw, and the icon says minus rw.

You may have bought a low quality media or a bad batch. Try a high quality brand such as Verbatim. Get 3 packs (if you can find them) until you find a brand that works).

For checking media there are a number of utilities. If you have Nero try the Nero Info Tool/Disc tab or you can get from here. It provides a lot of other info about your drive and drivers. Also Lite-On Smart Burn.
