Overclocking 7900GT

I hear that the 7900GT is very overclockable to be identical to the 1800XT by ATI.

What would I use to overclock it? I have never overclocked a video card before and have abolsutely no idea what is safe and what isn't. The system is going to be quite awesome aside from the video card as I know a video card Isn't the only important thing in a gaming rig.

The case with have 4 120mm fans and 2 80mm fans + Liquid Cooling for the processor. So hopefully ventilation won't be an issue.

What do you suggest on overclocking the 7900GT? How much and how do you do it?
 
Use rivatuner. nobody can tell you how much to overclock, just push it little by little and check for artifacts while playing games. And keep an eye on the temperature.

I was more or less looking for the guideline on how much people overclock these cards. So I know not to push it any farther then what most people are doing.

While every card is different, you'll usually be able to get the core clock to between 570 and 600Mhz without much difficulty. Keep pushing it up until it fails the internal driver test, and then back away a few Mhz from this max OC to ensure stability. ATI Tool is a great program to scan for artifacts (yes, it will scan with nVidia cards as well). If it's showing artifacts, lower your OC a little.
