E6600

You should be able to reach that speed, however the x6800 has unlocked upwards multipliers, which will allow you to OC higher.
 
So I can actually have the performance of a stock X6800? And the processor will do it without any issues? That's insane... oh man! How much better is the X6800 then then E6600 stock v Stock?

Just make sure you have the right motherboard and the right ram as well as psu.

I thought you just went to an option and just upped it a little? Thats how I overclocked my Celeron but that was like 5 years ago. haha :P
 
the X2 3800+ was an underclocked 4600+ for me, other people don't think so but they're idiots because i got to 2.4ghz without any issues with voltage or instability. i dont see why it would be any different for the e6600.

Its not that I dont think that board supports Conroe e6600 even though it says it supports LGA775 chip

How could I check that? I have to be sure now because I have swap it out before he orders it! What motherboard would you recommend then?

I am actually going to overclock but be using the 7900GT and overclock that as well! hrm! I am reading a bunch on other threads but I am not looking for an econo Conroe board... I want an awesome Conroe motherboard for gaming/overclocking!
