ok since im really a non game oriented person could any of u tell me if my sibling's computer can run any newer games since they want to use it to play on. i have no idea what newer games expect. any help?

here are the specs

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005
Microsoft Service Pack 2

Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2 GHz
*2000 MT/s (Mega Transfers/second)
*Socket 939

ATI Radeon XPress 200

Motherboard
* Manufacturer: MSI
*Motherboard Name: MS-7184
*HP/Compaq motherboard name: AmethystM-GL6E

Memory:
1 GB (2 x 512)
Speed supported: PC3200 MB/sec
Type: 184 pin, DDR SDRAM

Hard drive
*200 GB
*7200 rpm

The hardwares there should easily handle even some resource demanding games without too much problem. I'm sure most of the newer games for kids will run there without need for any hardware changes. I run some machine pounders here with an AMD64 3500+ 2.2ghz without problem. I was running a pair of 512mb PC3200 dimms on the old board until replaced with 2gb of value ram now used for gaming on a new build. If you see problems(not likely) simply get back here.

sooo..what graphics card?? You gotta have one for gaming..

You should have asked if onboard video or a PCI-Express card was being used. There are number NVidia and ATI 128mb cards out if one is needed in the event onboard video is being used. The question was raised due to that item not being seen in your signature.

I agree. Integrated graphics pretty much takes running 3d apps and games out of the question. If you don't game, then i guess its fine.

thats basically the specs of my laptop and it will struggle with doom3 bf2 and newer.

ive seem them play bf2 on it . doesnt seem to have much of a problem with it

dont know about the other tho

A laptop doesn't have quite the power demand for graphics a desktop model would. A laptop has a self contained lcd monitor matched for the video and board in it. When you run games and large on a desktop(custom of course) you have to add display power into the equation to see performance on an external monitor. At least 128mb of video ram is needed for the games that have more demand for graphics support. The less intense games get by with a minimum of 64mb especially the older ones.
