Laptop isnt working

My laptop isn't working. i turn it on and it shows the logo which is ACER and also says press f2 to enter setup. then after that it goes to a blank screen and stays like that.
 
What model of notebook do you have; i work in an acer repair centre and i might be able to offer more insight into your problem.

I dont think he said he actually pressed F2.

Anyways, make sure you have any CDs or flash drive (just take out all USB connections)
I've found some lappys that wont start if my flash drive is in it and just take out any CDs to be safe.

I have exactly the same problem with my ACER laptop (travelmate 244lc), although on blank screen it says ''Disk Error, press any key to restart''. However when press any key nothing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks
 
try pressing alt+F10 at the splash screen to do a system restore (it might take a few attempt). If not you will have to use the restore disks. if that doesn't help i would guess that your HDD is dead.
 
Sorry, really not up on technical info - flash screen? HDD? Plus, would a system restore lose all of the data previously on hard drive?

Ok a splash screen is when you see the logo of the company.(that is when you press alt+f10) And HDD if I am not mistaked means hard drive. And when you do a system restore you do not lose all of the data you had before.
