Massive transfer of files

I have about 3000 music files on my old computer's hard drive. I would like to know if there is a way to transfer all of these files into my new computer. A fast method would be nice.

personally i burn everything to dvd... 3000 sounds like 3 dvds might do the trick. of course if both computers are operational you can just hook them together with an ethernet chord... yes it doesnt require a router... and setup the network to drag and drop your files.

im actually about to do something similar... just burned 3 dvds worth of video and .exe files yesterday... plan on doing about 11gb or 3 dvds worth of music later on today. i use nero 7 ultra but i think windows XP has something built in to do it for you, if you dont have some dvd burning software.

selling my old X2 3800+ and getting a core 2 duo! :D
also finally upgrading to that 2x80gb raid 0 array... finally a bit more speed :D for under $100!

You can also take the drive with the music on it put it in the new comp as a slave drive and copy from there. The fastest way of transfering.

Just remeber that you need a crossover Cat5 network cable, or of of those nifty little adaptors

I would like to see everything move at a GBps... that has to be cool with ethernet (if both comps have it, and its not like teh old comps HDD can read that fast)

Where are you selling your X2? it would double my CPU power.

i thought about burning them to dvd. but my old computer only has a CD RW drive. my current computer has the capability to burn and read dvds, but i need a way to transfer the songs from my "old" computer.
