2 PCI Express x16 slots??

I was wondering why I have 2 PCI express x16 slots on my motherboard? arn't they only used for video cards?

Yes but some motherboards allow you to SLI or crossfire two video cards. Not all motherboards with two PCI-E can do this however. Ati is developing software that allows you to turn an ATI video card into a physics card. You can also plug in two video cards and have 4 monitors to one computer.
 
ah, okay, what's SLI? does that mean you can use them together doubleing the video stats?

SLI and crossfire is about the same thing, except that SLI is nvidia, and crossfire is ATI. It's when you use two of the same exact cards togther at once to get a performace increase.
 
yeah, I know that you can do a few things with the PCI-E x1, because I looked it up for a second, but the only things I could find for x16 were vid cards, that's why I asked, and because my mobo has 2 of 'em.

BTW, that's firewire, is that an ethernet card of some sort?

Firewire is like a USB port, but is faster.
