Here are my PC specs at the moment without a graphics card...

Amd Athlon 64 3000+ (939)
2gb ram
120gb Maxtor 7200rpm
Asus A8N SLI
Antec 450Watts PSU

The reason I asked this is because i have 7900GTX on the way and i was wondering if this would be ok. The main games i play are Counter strike:source and Guild Wars.

yes it might be worth considering an upgrade sometime in the near future, especially with all the price drops. a nice dual core from amd would suit that system fine

yea i wasnt too pleased with the fps i was getting with it, on the css stress test i got 93fps i was expecting a bit more, so i think the cpu must be restricting its performance.
if I got a dual core 4600+ im guessing it would not be restricted?

definitely wouldn't be.Great setup.I think the graphic card is a bit overboard for those 2 games but hey!You can play better games later without problems.Nice :)

your not pleased? dude, your eyes cant tell the difference above 80 fps. so whether it is 90 or 250 it will just look the same. you should be happy with 93

your eyes see about 12fps but that all blurry and jittery

but yeah the higher you get soon you wont be able to notice it

wat is the limit where you cant notice anything higher because i will be getting a 7900gt and was wodnering it it would put out enough for it too look perfect

you can't see anything above 30fps, although 50-60 are always better numbers, so when you get into the movies of the game it won't freeze up like a deer in someones headlights :) and really, if you are getting 99fps, you should turn the game up as high as it'll go, you will get the same performance, and much more eye-candy
