I'll be using a 400W PSU (Dual +12V@20A) that I already have.

hmm

I would actually suggest getting a 2 x 1GB sticks for future-proofing the system. Believe me if you wish to do some heavy gaming, it will come in handy + the GFX card is not really suitable for a system like that.

I have 2 comments.
1. IF you are gamer then the Vcard is weak compared to the rest of the system.
2. I don't know what you do but personally I would fill up an 80GB HDD with all of my videos and then I would need more space.

Graphics card wise, what would you guys recommend. I'm looking to spend less than $150 if at all possible. I'm not a hardcore gamer, though I frequently play CS:Source, GRAW, Quake 4, and Prey.

1. Not really, x850xt is a pretty good card, pretty equal or better than the 7600gt, which is an excellent budget card.

2. I would agree, 80gigs is a pretty skimpy, especially if you play lots of steam games and such.

I use barely any hard drive space, believe me, 80gb is plenty for me, and I already have the drive anyway. Also, do you think an X1600XT such as this one would be worth looking at?

NO. The 1600XT is a downgrade from the X850XT. I'd suggest keeping the X850XT. You can always upgrade later if you really need to.

Don't get the 945 chipset, and not that motherboard either

Gets the job done, limited OC capability.

Look at the Gigabyte GA-965P DSC-3.

I'd also suggest a 1x1GB for now. That way, you don't blow your budget now and you won't have two of your sockets filled and you can always get another stick later on.

I don't know why but I thought it said x800. The x850xt is still slower in the vcard world than E6300 is in the CPU world.

I have the x850xt. Beleive me, that aint no weak card. It aint no 1900XTX, but it does the job. I can play fear with AA/AF at 8x/16X maxed with 1024x768 with 50FPS. Its a good card, the best in its money class.

I completely agree. It performs better in games then the x1600XT, 7600GT, and is on par with a 7800GT. The only thing it lacks is SM3 support, which isnt a big deal unless your into running 3DMark06 alot.
