What in the PC world is that?

It means you can atach or detach cables to your PSU so that you can reduce clutter by removeing extra cables. Some people love them, some people claim it increases resistance on the conectors.

You mean directly from the PSU case? No wonder the pictures I've seen don't show it.

Yes, that explains it pretty well.

Modular looks quite clean.
Useful if you're building specialized PC, not needing all connectors.
Otherwise wire ties will do nicely.
