Is there a way to always do a soft shutdown? Does hibernate count as a soft shutdown?

In order for the Wake on Lan to work i need the computer to still supply power to the lan card.. which is when it is in soft shutdown mode.. any help?

Thx

when you shutdown you can see a light on the back of the lan card, that means it is on. to enable wake on lan, go to your bios - and there should be an option to enable it there, at least for mobo lan.

OK, how do you make it so when you shutdown the lan light is always on? I have the WOL in bios on. After a few hours the lan light will go off.

The light would only remain on if the cable “patch or crossover” that is plugged in it is connected to another NIC, switch etc.

oop!!! I now noticed posts that guy has! May its his little bro or sumem.

No not his little brother. I just get annoyed when someone answers a different question than what I asked. Don't get me wrong I am glad people donate their time to help other people... BUT there are some who do it for the +1. Personally I don't care about the post count. I only come on here to take up time from work.

AND if you look at my above posts, I never teased anyone. I never called anyone names or anything to make it look like I am acting different.

Thx though...
