New system in the works...

Why not? Vista is just another version of the Windows operating system. It will run on the same hardwares as XP does for the most part.
 
Because with vista coming out they will release new technology such as the 64 bit. as well as new ram like ddr3 and ddr4 and they are comming out with a quad core cpu with that my new system will instantly be out of date.

Where do you get that nonsense from? How about looking at what Microsoft has to say about Vista.

And yes you will have to upgrade your hard drive to run vista, I know what im talking about, Im a computer tech.
 
with vista they will be comming out with a "hyper hard drive" If its the one i think it is it will run at 25-3500 rpm, do you have any idea how fast that is? It will take up two drive bays because it comes with its own fan...they also will have the quad core cpu and ddr3and4 RAM and a few other goodies...any system build right now will be out of date in less than 6 months...(ANY) even if you sunk $10,000 in to it. Please dont tell me i dont know what im saying just because you dont want to hear it.:P
 
The fastest I have seen is 10,000 rpm right now.

Also I am just playing devils advicate right now I agree with you all but I do insist that you will need a new hard drive, I talked to a tech from microsoft.
But I think I was going to Buy one anyway just dont spend alot on a hard drive, besides that your computer will run it yes just not well...

In case you havent noticed, this is a Computer Forum, hence we know some things about computers... We know about 10000RPM drives, and how little of an increase in performance they offer over 7200RPM... Ill admit, 3500RPM is fast, but how reliable are they? why havent we heard about this from anywhere else? and of course we know about quad core, its called K8L from AMD, the new Otpys for Socket AM2 and F. Intel will prob come out with the Core 2 Quad. DDR3 and DDR4 are out too, for GPUs, but for large sizes, what about latencies? DDR2 at high speeds has very slow timings (comparatively with some of the faster DDR chips, like XMS) and i dont even want to think about DDR3 and 4. And if you dont want to hear it, then dont post, go brag somewhere else.

Edit: and i can run Vista on my machine! i have a 7200 RPM... a single core... DDR...

Apparently several here already have a beta version of Vista running "WITHOUT" having to go out and buy any new hard drives. But then if you are running some old ATA33 or 66 model drive you would want to! :P

Even that is understating it a little. When you can run XP on an old ATA66 drive with some obvious drawbacks with the 4,200rpm there Vista should go right on any current ATA100 or 133 drive or SATA 7,200rpm model without any hesitation. Some people don't seem to understand "backward compatability" to any degree apparently. :P

There is such a thing as backward compatability but why would you not want to use what you have to its full potential? (if i undrstand that correctly) Anyway, i have heard the same things about the hard drive. You should look into getting a new hard drive i suppose.. when it comes out. I looked up some things about Vista, and it seems to me that it puts quite the toll on other 'older' computers. I asked my computer teacher about it awhile ago actually... and he advised me to wait becaue 'they' are going to force us into buying newer computers...
Thats all i know about it. Hope it helps :) Dont buy it right away until more information comes out about, more reviews and such.
