advice on a new card

I'm gonna build a new rig and was hoping to get some advice on a graphics card. It's gonna be a gaming computer and I want to be able to play MMORPGs at max settings with no hardware lag.

Would an sli setup be good for this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
 
There are hardly any mmos that will utilize a whole 7900GT let alone like an x800 Pro lol...hell i ran WoW and Guildwars maxed with a 6600LE,unless you play newer games that require really good graphic cards,i wouldnt suggest dishing out so much cash.

When you ran WoW were you in a raid/battleground or just solo/group? WoW runs fine for me if it's just me or a group of five. The lag issues arise when I'm in a 20 player raid and really get bad in battlegrounds where there are upwards of 80 players involved.

i did everything perfectly fine,i pvped with my pally in bgs like av and wsg and ab and i did MC and BWL and i never lagged at all except in ironforge,that was due to my old 1 gig of ram though.So you really dont need a high end card,but dont get the 6600LE or anything,wasnt suggesting it,just showing that a abad card can play the game,look at ATI's X800 and X850 series,theres some good cards there that'll even run the new current games that are out.
 
the 6800gt is a good card,try going for something like my X800XL,it showed in benchmarks to prove better than a 6800GT and Ultra cards in bulk of the games and is very cheap.Or an X850XT.
