Step 3: Add another beta to the development cycle. That new window gives the team enough time to push back RC1 and add Beta 3 into the mix. This means that Beta 3 comes at the end of this month, RC1 comes at the middle of October, and RTM is Microsoft's last big accomplishment of 2006. That should give the world enough time to try out a much more stable version of the operating system, and see how it works in the real world. It will be shorter than most betas, but it's ok to be a little agile in that respect.
Step 4: Give the entire Windows team a week off." posted on Monday, July 31, 2006 9:52 AM http://www.longhornblogs.com/robert/archive/2006/07/31/Windows_Vista_Needs_a_Beta_3.aspx

IN ITS rush to get Windows Vista to the shops, the software giant Microsoft is planning to cancel its beta 2 release and use Community Technical Preview (CTP) releases until Release Candidate 0 (RC0) is ready in March 2006.
According to sources who chatted to Windows IT Pro, Vole is so determined to get Vista out for the third quarter of 2006 that it is prepared to kill off the Beta 2 stage.
Vole has denied that it is cancelling Beta 2, but Amitabh Srivastava, the corporate vice president of Windows Core Operating System Development said that Beta was "less urgent" because of the company's new engineering process and early CTP feedback.
While the fact that Vista has been delayed so many times that the use of the word 'rushed' seems a little strange, there seems to be a bit of haste if Vole is getting ready kill off a beta to get it all ready.
Maybe it is something to do with the fact that they will not get their bonuses if they do not get it out by August. More 'ere. µ http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=28049

Dude, your quoting information that is unbelievably out of date. Check the date before you post time sensitive information next time. Oh man.

The date there was in regards to the original question about any release of a beta 3 not 2. The older article discussed the delays and initial plans of release for the retail version. The author mentions the need for more time with beta releases. But as usual you fail to stay on subject.

No, I have RC1.

Apparently Vista saves time right clicking on a drive icon to view properties. It already shows the drive's capacity and free space available.

I never could get the dang Pre Rc-1 to install so i'm still on 5384 anyone have a working iso file? I have the serial just need the working iso got one i can have? lol

ok. So i downlaod all 3.5 gb of the 64-bit version of the RC1, then i spend another 6 hours trying to make ONE partition on my computer, then i keep trying and now with a total of 14 hours of waiting/figuring things out i STILL can't get it to work properly.

The problem: it laods files, then goes to a laoding screen like windows XP except with a blank logo, nothing! Then it goes to an interface where i can do nothing. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.

Now i look through my computer and see that i have MSDN downlaoded with Visual Basic 8???? WTF???
