That list is crap. Panda kicks the crap out of Norton AND McAfee.. They should be at the bottom of the list from my on-site experience with them.

No, I'm not. But thanks for the effort all the same. I've had plenty of experience with them and they are terrible. I wouldn't recommend them to any of them. Neither would any of my clients after they found out the truth and got my bill. :P

So, from the list Avast is good. Ok sounds good. What about BitDefender free version 8.0 anyone know if this is good?

Wow....talk about closed-mindedness

I think we've had enough of your "on-site experience," considering some of the things that you have said before

I agree, Panda is a good virus scanner but Avast is higher in the list and also free.
I second this statement. I have used McAfee, Norton, Avast, AntiVir, Panda, and AVG all on this computer. Avast and Panda were both very good with virus searches, but Avast has an incredibly competant on-access scanner. I would go with Avast.

I've never tried Avast. I understand that it is really good. I've been stuck on this AVG for a while and I really like it. Not a bad little program at all. NOD32 is really good, but I don't know if they have a free version or not.

Yeah. I know what I don't like. Products that have failed the test. I don't put up with crap. If you're going to charge good money for a product and make out to be the be all, end all, you better damn well deliver. Norton and McAffee don't.

And in 1000 posts, prove me wrong (ok, besides the fans at 6:00am after an 18 hour day). You're the one trying to dance people around in circles with their controller cards because you have no clue how to install them. You're the one that thinks a mobo is powered on 12V. So who are you to point fingers out of curiosity? Hmm?

Anyways... Back to the topic... I have found that Norton takes up a huge amount of system resources and misses a lot of virii that other detectors catch. I've had to clean up nasty messes left behind. Mcaffee also misses a lot of virii.

I should try the Avast. I hear so many good things about it.

Im using Avast atm,.. and it works great. even better, im even going to pay them the money for it after the trail ends :) this virus scanner is nice, i like it ;)

I have no clue how to install them? I have SCSI drives and controllers that I use out the wazoo.
You're the one that thinks a mobo is powered on 12V.
There are wires carrying 12v of electricity going into a motherboard connector. Whether or not the motherboard actually uses it, I don't care.
So who are you to point fingers out of curiosity? Hmm?
Curiosity? What am I curious about?

I should try the Avast. I hear so many good things about it.
Ah, the first positive thing you have said all day.

Are you saying Avast is better than norton antivirus? I'm about to get my laptop online, and just need something to stop it being killed as soon as I plug it in.

Is Avast what I want? My dad reckons Norton, but he's a goon. Obviously not paying any money would be a bonus. And so would a proggy less annoying than Norton that doesn't just dominate my entire computer and act retarded all the time.

Is avast 100% free? Is it a full version or just a trial where you need to pay at the end to keep using it?

Sarah.

P.S. bobo I haven't tried pot! And I'm 19!

That is the general consensus

My dad reckons Norton, but he's a goon.
Ouch!

Norton has a lot of nice utilities, but it is expensive. It is also the most annoying and hard-to-get-rid-of program that I have ever seen. The only way that I was able to get rid of it was by reformatting. It wrote stuff all over my hard drive and registry, and as soon as I started deleting things....well the computer wasn't happy.

Go with Avast, you will be happy you did.

Avast is 100% free.

Yeah, I guess it's Avast or AVG. I use AVG personally.
I used to use AVG, and it is also very good. I use Avast now because its on-access scanner is incredibly good (it is constantly watching for virii, not just when you scan)

P.S. bobo I haven't tried pot! And I'm 19!
Umm...yeah ok neither have I :)

BTW, I am assuming that since your name is Sarah, that you are a girl. You should stick around. We certainly have an interesting little community of females here. :D That might be an understatement

Are you straight edge? I kinda am but I hate other straight edge kids because theyre goons. Also I got drunk a few weeks back.... but in general I hate booze and what it does to people. Never done drugs, never drank, never nothing. Partly because I am a nerd, partly because I just know that there is no reason to do something to be cool, or whatever

You might want to try avast.com :P

There's the link for Avast...

And I couldn't help note your little side note. I smoked pot for 17 years. I also really enjoy my beer, especially Polish beer.

A little word of friendly advice? Don't do it. It does a lot of damage and it takes a long, long time to repair. Six of us would go through at least an ounce every four days at the peak. That's over $200 a pop. That's a lot of weed and a lot of money. PLEASE. PLEASE. PLEASE. I know what it's like. Don't do it to tell your kids. Get them educational materials instead.

Don't get messed up in it. I really don't think it's something you want to do.
