My linux ISO cd wont boot on my compiter, nor windows XP cd. In the bios I set it to boot from disk but still nothing.

what do you mean ISO cd? do you have 1 iso file on the disk?
if so, then im not suprised it doesnt boot, you have to select burn image to disk, select the iso, and then it should burn a 'normal' CD out of it again :)

It's set to boot from CD first and it won't boot bootable CDs? Is that what you're saying?

Yes that is what Im saying. The ISO cd is a linux distro. Howver it is not a bad cd, seeing the fact that Ive used it on other computers. My computer wont boot any cd. I tried my Win XP pro cd and it wouldn't boot either.

I do believe your drive is no good. I mean, it is possible that the BIOS is messed up and can't tell the computer what to do with the drive, but there is a better chance of you finding a gold nugget in your Cheerios.

You can always test this theory by getting a boot floppy with CD Rom support and accessing the drive that way. My hunch is that it will tell you that the device is not ready or can't be found.

Also, don't forget to make sure the ribbon is plugged in firmly on both ends. That's kind of important.

Check into it and let us know.

How did you burn the CD? A lot of people tend to burn the ISO file itself onto the CD instead of actually writing the contents of the ISO.

Something like Nero or ISOBurn can burn ISOs.

No its the not the disc, it worked on every other pc I installed it on. Even my windows XP disc wont boot. All that comes up is pick your OS ( I used to run a dual boot but then I deleted the OS on the D drive) and it gives me 30 seconds to pick it. I used to be able to boot from a cd before I had a dual boot:confused:
