How to install RAM?

I want to install two 512 MB RAM stiks, I have a PC with XP. How do i install it without the motherboard and RAM melting? (because i heard that it hapens) Do i have to programme something?

just open the case and look for an empty slot and place the ram in it like this

just make sure you unplug the power cable before you install it
and you don't need to program anything

Really?! I dont have to configure anything, its just like a plug and play thingy?

yes its that simple. plug it in, push the two white things above into the notches on the side and switch it back on

First off are you sure the mobo can handle 1Gb?
