hey everyone,

i have a question. i m getting a dell dimension 5150. i called and asked if i could use a Geforce 7300GS Over Clocked on that system, they said yes.
However, i m worried. On the futureshop and nivida site, it said that it needs 350W of psu, while dell's top psu is at 305W.

Tell me if you know anything..
THank u so much

I think it should run it generally dell powersupplys are pretty good. I used to have one and it had 18 amps on each 12v rail and it was either at 305 or 350 watts. But can you tell us what the amps are on each of the 12v rails if you have two and we can see if that will be good enough for the card cause usually watts arent as important as amps.

I wouldn't assume that the 7300GS takes that much power, but you should check about the 12V rails on your power supply and see what they are.

thank u for ur answers.

i will call dell 2morrow to ask for the amps.

they kept on telling me x600 SE hypermemory is good.....however, i doubt it

do u guys have any comments on x600 SE hypermemory at 256 MB?

Take the side of the case off, and there should be a sticker with the Power Supply wattages and amps on it. No need to call Dell :)

And the X600 SE Hypermemory is a piece of junk. It uses your system memory instead of having more built in memory, besides, there are many better cards in that price range.

You dont have to call dell for the amps on your powersupply there should be a sticker on the powersupply that tells you that info. The X600 SE is a ok card for gaming but i beilve the 7300GS is better but not by much but they still wont be the best for gaming i would get something like a 7600GS or 7600GT they will be much better.
