I am downloading the Demo right now, What did you think of it? Pass or pay?

I downloaded it but havent tried. For $50, it doesn't seem worth it.

I think Steam should stop trying to create games for every genre, and focus on it's main games, like Half-Life and Counter Strike.

But they have a problem with that... If everyone pays up front, they have no NEW money coming in. They would have to remake the game every year for it to work only with the old valve games.

I do agree with you there, I just think there getting too carried away. Why not make mods based of the source engine that are still similar to HL...

It's not being developed by Valve. It's being developed by Arkane and published by Ubisoft, it just uses the source engine and is being distributed by Steam (At least the multiplayer beta is, now the single-player demo is also, so I'd assume the full version will).

Now there's an open multiplayer beta for all gamespot members, but mine freezes while loading.

Any reason why this thread was resurected a month later?

i payed $55 for oblivion, and it was worth every penny. i wouldve payed $75 for it, thank god it wasnt haha.
if its like oblivion it should be worth it, but try it first if youve got a good internet connection. i never thought 3hrs was that long to wait for such a large demo to download... i mean i let my computer download stuff overnight a lot of the time... i mean i have high speed but since i leave my comp on all the time anyways why not download somethin right? plus i play music w/ my comp at nighttime to help me sleep...
get a nice playlist goin, you know... lol

finally installed it after having it on my comp for like a week. It's actually a really cool game, and it uses the steam engine, which looks fantastic in this game. I like how immersive this game is, the camera moves really realistically. Plus theres LOTS of blood.

I've never played oblivion, but from what I've heard, its nothing like it. Its more of a fantasy FPS with RPG elements in it. There isn't a whole non-linear world like oblivion, but the combat system is much deeper. It's not just hack and slash. Play the demo to see what I mean.

I want to buy this game, but I think I'll wait out till Crysis for my next game purchase.
