64x2 5000+ or core 2 e6600
im leaning towards amd cause ive heard some bad stuff about core 2 plus im a amd fanboy

You're not alone there! :D I wonder if anyone has posted a poll on who stays with AMD or has switched to those "other guys"? ! :P Lately all you is Core 2 being mentioned(yeech!).

You say you're an AMD fanboy, yet I'm glancing over at your avatar...

If you're talking about the core 2 DUO e6600, then Intel is the way to go. NO idea what this 'bad stuff' is that you're on about.

Of course the E6600! It overclocks like crazy and is better than the FX-62 in almost all tests with stock speeds.

PLus Core 2 Duo has driven the price of AMD 64 CPUs WAY down.

A 3200+ Venice is like $75 and I got a X24200+ a few weeks ago for $180...

The Core 2 DUo may be bettr, but the AMD 64's aren't bad and now they are CHEAP!

well i got a 3.7sandiego 64bit for around £50, that is my first 64bit cpu so i thought i would go for a cheep one, but turn's out that its actualy a goot cpu...

but i think that intel is the best upto date-

who knows amd might be back with vengance

But that does'nt mean that the 5000+ would be bad :). I like the AMDs mobos more...

Basically, what I am saying is that if he hasn't already bought an AMD motherboard, the battle between the E6600 and the X2 5000+ is obviously in favor of the Intel, though both would be okay. In fact, I'd recommend saving money and getting an E6300 and overclocking it.

well im a amd and core 2 fanboy but my first Allegiance is with amd
(im really mad amd didnt come out with core 2)

E6600 should be a bit better, they also should be about the same in price too (haven't checked the x2 5000+ price in a while though).

i think ill go with core2 could any1 configer a system for me i need everything and i have a price limit of 1300$canadain

The amd's are a bit cheaper, but the intel's are a bit better, so ultimately it comes down to is the extra cash worth a little slower processor. It all depends on your budget. The computer im in the process of building will be my first intel based computer since i dont remember when.

$180 was the usual price until recently finding the 3500+ for $109 at the time. It's a toss up now whether the FX60 or Opteron 185 will be the last cpu on the temp build here. Well maybe the AMD Quad core will see use on the next build. This one was an unscheduled build good to upgrade someone in the family from the old Socket A 3000+ model don't you think. :D

I did some preliminary looking into PC Eye's claim that the Core2Duo is having problems. As it turns out, it's not the actual CPU that's having problems, it's the supporting tech. I read a few complaints about different mobos, one about a PSU not powering it, a couple about mobos crapping out when trying to overclock the C2D. Etc.

There seems to be no problems with the actual chip itself.

Both AMD and Intel want to hold good specs on their cpus. But as you notice the mention people not getting what they were counting wasn't directed specifically at the model cpu but what they were trying to do. If you plan on pushing hardwares you also have to have that extra cooling no matter make and model you put in a case.

I saw one AMD XP2600+ take out two not one boards when the board was thought to have failed. When the cpu was tried on the next board. poof! It was dead right away. And the old Barton cored AMD models were good for OCing too depending on model.
