non-usb printers

i have a friend of mine trying to use an old printer that doesn't use USB,
is there like converters so that he can connect this old printer to his new computer?

I didnt know the correct name for it,However i did know the converter because i had one on my old compy:D

That's all right, I just like to keep everything correct.

Just for some interesting info, the term LPT came from the original port used in the 80s to connect to a line printer, from whence came LPT.** Most computers have LPT 1 designated as the parallel port (IRQ 7), but you can also manually designate different ports (like serial, or w/e) as other LPT numbers.

So you weren't totally wrong...:rolleyes:

**Nobody really knows where LPT came from, but it may have been Line Printing Terminal

Yeah well thats the best way to keep things correct because then they dont get confused,I know i would:D

I just try to help people out with problems and questions that i know a fix too saving the more complicated posts obviusly for the people with more computer knowledge.

Lol...well I don't always fit under that category, if you notice I wasn't totally correct in my correction either ;) Now we are both smarter because of it.
