VC101 Kinda outdated. Sli/non-Sli help!

Here's the situation: I've never done SLi before, but (so I've heard) it allows remarkible results. I'm thinking of doing SLi on the next build of mine, but I not shure if it gives more "power" or not. Here it is:

If I DON'T go sli, i will be using a nVidia 7900GT. (256mb, 24 pp's ect..) (Board by XfX, eVga, or BFG)

If I DO go sli, I will be using 2 nvidia 7600GT. (256mb, 12 pp's ect...) (Same board manufactures)

In essence, the video card(s) cost about the same, the 7900gt being about 260$ USD, and the 2 7600GTs about 130$ USD each.
But, unfortunatly, the sli WILL cost more, because I have to upgrade the mobo and psu, among others.

So, will going SLi really increase my preformance? Or should I save the money and get a better CPU?

not on mid range cards. stick with the 7900GT, it consumes less power as the 2 7600GT's while it doesnt load the CPU as much.
and if im not mistaken the 7900GT would outperform it too.
( SLI is worth it with 2 7900GT's tough,.. but thats my oppinion )

Ok, thanks, and yeah I REALLY want 2x7900GT's or even 2x 7900GTX or hell why not sx 7950gx2's, lol but i dont have the 500,600,800,900,1k,1.2k...(lol, need i go on?) pricetag. But thx, I guess its the 7900gt then!

Look on the other side.. if you get an SLI board, and 1 7900GT,.. you can buy a 2nd hand 7900GT later on when the next series of grafic's cards is released you would be suprised how cheap you can get really nice grafic's cards, just because that persone wants to have the newest of the new stuff
