I plan to buy The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion. I need a good enough video card to experience that game. It got really good graphics.

This is the recommended video card requirement for Oblivion:

"ATI X800 series, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card"

I'm not so good at computer so I'm not sure which video cards to buy. some video cards perhaps are not compatible with my pc.

Thx for helping.:)

Your system specifications like mother board, amount of memory installed, onboard or expansion card for sound can all play a part as well as the power supply. Some of the latest model cards may require a larger supply. Your price range can also help in advising a good performing video card.

I'm going to add at least 256mb ram soon.

I'm not sure about the price in your country. I'm interested in getting a video card priced like NVIDIA GeForce 7300GS (lil lower or higher) and good enough for Oblivion. Thx.

I'd suggest getting a minumum of 512MB ram extra ( so you have 768MB )
and get something at least 7600GT (if its PCI-E and probably look at something like a 7800GS for AGP)

When I was playing frequently I had a Gig of pc3200 ram, and an x1300 and I was able to have quality graphics. Not the best and it was somewhat laggy. So maybe that will give you a little bit of an Idea of how graphically demanding it is.
I am building a new system soon and plan on maxing the settings, I can't wait! :-P

You need to get 1gb of ram to run that game well and you need something like a 7600GT or GS for PCI-E or a 7600GS or 7800GS for agp...

Oblivion isnt that hard to run. 512Mb RAM ( preferably 1Gb+ tough)
a relatively descent CPU, and something of Geforce 6600 lvl or higher, and you can run it quite nicely.
also with HDR disabled, it's a lot easyer to run for a pc

with my setup oblivion skips a good bit which is rather annoying but im like 99% sure that its my near full 40 Gb harddrive...i've ordered an SATA drive and im sure that will stop the stuttering...so make sure you have an SATA drive

what CPU etc did he have? because my friend had a 3000+ s754, 512Mb RAM and a 6200 AGP card. and it ran like i said ;)

My friend runs it on a 6200 and 1 gig of ram, and with low graphics it runs pretty good. My other friend has an X300 and 512mb of ram, and he runs it at higher settings with acceptable frame rates. Everyone who says you need a 7600GT or higher is meaning for high graphics settings. I used to run it on an X300 fine, at decent settings. In fact, I have some pictures of what it looked like.

he's got an Intel P4 3ghz,the 6600GT,1gb ddr400 ram and im not too sure about the mobo but it was too laggy for him to play so he just uninstalled.

well obviously the 6600GT sucks balls at running oblivion then Don't get a 6600GT rayZa

Do you have any idea how powerful a 6600GT is compared to your friends 6200 & X300?

A 6800/X800 is infact the bare minimum I'd want to play this game.

I most certainly do, but Iluvpenguins said that it was too laggy to play oblivion, when I played it just fine on my old X300.
And yes I do realize he probly had the graphics cranked, and decided that if he couldnt play it on max there's no point in playing it at all.
Anyway I was just joking when I said the 6600GT sucks balls, I'd obviously want one over a 6200 or an x300.
