for 50 dollars or less? theres so many models i dont kno what to go with. trying to put together a computer on newegg. thanx

Most any of the NEC drives are very good. I have the one with DVD-RAM support(some 4000 model, I beleive) and it's been great. I also have a 3520 I stuck in an external case which has also been a good one.

want lightscribe? theyve got those for less than $50, and i just bought a burner for my new rig... $29.99 free shipping. those deals are always changing though
just do a search for 16x dvd-r and 16x dvd+r and then enable or disable lightscribe and search for it. thats what i did. careful though, a lot of them are priced the same but only a few come with free shipping. you could save $5 looking for one with free shipping.

The best DVD burner going by far is the Plextor. But you have to be rich to buy one. For the money nothing beats an LG.

i have a Lite-On top notch high speeds on everythign with lightscribe and 5X DVD-RAM and its working great

tho i havent burned anythgin with it

I've never had a LiteOn burner for my computer, but I had a LiteOn DVD-ROM that gave me loads of trouble. And my first DVD-Recorder was a LiteOne(set top TV recorder) and it died after about 3 weeks...

Well, all I know is that my NEC drives have been wonderful and never given me any problems what so ever.

The high quality (read expensive) Plextor units are about the best that money can buy. Their cheaper burners are just rebadged units from other manufacturers.

NEC/Pioneer burners are great for their money, and my personal pick as the best burners at a reasonable price.
