Why buy a processor that cost twice as much, and gives you less performance? That's just not logical.
AMD has better case badges?( sorry, couldnt resist posting that)
but I'd stick with the fx-57 tbh.. better invest in some better grafic's than waste the money on a minor CPU upgrade![]()
It wouldn't that minor but a change of cpu type as well as the increase in the default clock speed. Going from a single cored FX57 to a dual cored FX60 would make a noticable difference for two not one reason. Multitasking at a faster default speed will show that. The problem is the price is still at the high end of the scale. In so many months it will drop below where the FX57 is seen now.
The main thing here is the boost of cpu power that is being decided on. pdc76 wants to know which cpu will be the best for the current board not what board he can buy. If you want a strictly gaming build PCI-16x does offer quite a bit more when planning a new build over having a high end AGP card.
Cost wise? A simple wait for the FX60 to drop in price to move into that model or the immediate jump into the 4800+ X2. Performance wise the FX60 will offer a bit more then just the .2ghz default gain. It is geared more towards the gaming end.
By the time the FX60 drops to a reasonable price comparing to the X2 4800+, he'll be ready to buy a new rig with a pci-express card.
