7600GT in SLI vs. 7950GT or 7900GT

if i was looking to upgrade from my single 7600GT, what would be the best route without spending too much $$$. cause it would obviously be cheapest for me to just buy another 7600GT to run in SLI since i already have one.


so my question is:

how would 2 7600GTs in SLI compare to one 7950GT?

then how would the two 7600GTs compare to one 7900GT?

last question, how much longer do u think the 7600GT will be on the market?
 
I thought I remember reading that 2 7600's sli beat a single 7900gt. The 7950 for sure obliterates the dual 7600s tho because it's like 2 7900gt's.
 
One 7600GT can handle any game out now pretty damn well. So, I would keep your one 7600GT for now then wait for DX10 while you save more money. So when DX10 cards begin to come out, you will have $$ for a nice one.

An 7950GX2 is two graphics processors in one, but a 7950GT has just one graphics processor.
 
single card configuration is better, and cheaper too. not to mention uses less electricity.

i do agree with this though, the 7600gt is a good card, and it would definitely be worth the short wait to get a direct X 10 card. they're adding a new part to the gpu's like the pixel pipelines and vertex shaders. the new part is going to be named the "geometry shader" and its going to increase performance for the intense direct X 10 graphics, which if you haven't seen.. are VERY intense.

yup.. the 7950GT2X is basicly 2 7900GTX (at least i think it were GTX's,.. could be GT's tough ) in SLI, it jsut uses one PCI-e slot. so if you have 2 7950GT2X's in SLI, you basicly have a Quad-SLI setup :)
 
I'd do as Bob says, as that is my plan as well. Wait for DX10 to come out, THEN buy a GOOD card like...what the 7800GTX or 7900GT is today, but DX10 supporting and such, that way I can run with that for as long as I can. Hopefully by the time I get to buying stuff a overclocking 590 board will be out for SLI and such too :)
 
I would guess that the two 7600's would be at least as good as one 7900. Depending on the price you find on an additional 7600 I would get another 7600. If you can find a 7900 for not much more I'd get a 7900. Personally I was able to win a new 7900 on ebay for $220.00 I checked back and noticed righ now they are generally are going for closer to $300.00
