Corsair XMS2, Buget Gamers Ram?

I'm currently in the process of trying to build a computer that will last me through college (3 more years) and not blow up at the end of said period. My immidiate aim si to be able to run World of Warcraft at max settings and flawless FPS on 40 man raids (as a Priest, this is necessary ^^). Of course, games like Elder Scroll III: Oblivion make me drool.

Here is what I've come up with and I would like suggestions on Ram, thanks alot! ^^

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128012

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz 2M sharing L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819115005

Video Card: XFX PVT73GUGD3 Geforce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150182

Ram: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145590

Note that I intend to run the Video card in SLI in the future. I'm a complete newb when it comes to voltage and and watts, so if you could suggest a power supply also I would be most gratful.

Basically I'm wondering if I'm going overboard here. My orginal budget was only 700 and now I'm pushing 900 and I don't have have a case yet, heh. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Looks good. Do note that 965P doesn't support SLI natively, it's currently only available via hacked drivers.

with my current setup, i have about 50 - 64fps in MC, and slightly lower in BWL/AQ40 and Naxx in WoW is pretty much a pain to run.
however,... turning down anisitrophic filtering didnt increase my fps at all ( i just wanted to know if it made a difference )

but like its said, WoW isnt really demanding, however, you can get some fps dip's,.. no matter what system you got

For Wow, that is overkill. It is not a very demanding game. But I would leave it as is, its a nice computer that can let you play games in the future in case a good one comes along you want to play.

This is a nice PSU:

How much do you want to spend on a PSU?

Is 550W enought to support a SLI combo of my video card? A friend of my said he is getting a 1kW PSU because of the wattage require for SLI.

What would you suggest I do? Find a slightly more expensive alternitive or go for the modded drivers? If the mobo is able to fuction under SLI why does it not nativly support it unless it is taxing on other functions?

hmm... what cards is he using? The 6800ULTRA's in SLI are the most power demanding grafic's cards for SLI as far as i know.. and you can run 2 of those using a 550W supply.. ;)
as for my cards... they also consume quite some power, and i use a 550W power supply too :) so needing a 1KW supply for SLI is basicly... well,.. bullshit :D

You have a very nice gaming system, it blows my mind that you can't just destroy WoW in all raid instances with an SLI 7800GTX.

It makes me wonder, if what you say is true, what on this whole planet would need a 1kW PSU unless used for server mainframe perhaps.

well... the grafic's card's arnt the problem. im running ventrillo, 24 addon's and WoW at the same time for those instance.. so its quite some load on the CPU. ;) I get the same fps when i disable SLI ( even a few more) because SLI also loads the CPU, AND 1 7800GTX is more than enough for woW already :)

Mods are very memory intensive, that is why I went for higher quality Ram. As a Priest I am absolutly overflowing with mods, my screen is always full of names as I play whack-a-mole with 39 other peoples HP bars.

And to make matters even worse, my guild uses Teamspeak, which is much more demanding then Ventrillo because of it GUI. Would you setup run ESIII: Oblivion would you say?

well... you can put 8 HDD's in some pc's.. you can have a quad SLI motherboad etc.. however.. people tend to like to go for the Overkill... just so they can showoff for others. I know enough people who brag about having a 800W PSU.. but my pc outperforms them in 3dMark :P so... jsut make sure you have enough Amp's on the +12v rail, and you're good to go ;)

Edit: well,... you can jsut install the mod Hearth it really simplifies healing, and if others get it too.. you even prevent 2 people healing the same guy at the same time ;) its a great add-on imo

+12v rail....that comment made my head explode. No clue what you mean on that subject. You have been most helpful, I will one day find a guide to voltage and wattage I can understand and get that figured out.

I will also check out that mod. Thanks agian.

well... a PSU has different Voltages on the different cables. the newer grafic's cards are connected to the +12Volt of the PSU. and some other pc essencials are too. meaning, if the PSU doesnt have enough Amperage on the +15Volt cable (rail), the pc wont run propperly, or wont even boot up at all.
as for Wattage, P=U*I so if you have 20 Ampere on the +12V rail, you have 20*12=> 240Watt on the 12Volt rail :)
some PSU's have like 350Watt on the 3.3 Volt rail ( wich is completely useless) and only 150Watt on the 12Volt rail ( wich isnt that much) yet they are sold as 500Watt PSU's.. because the total power they deliver is 500W. ( this is a stupid example with only 2 Rails.. but i think yopu get the point :o )
