Process

I cannot expand it because there is no way of making the window any bigger... The arrows don't appear to resize it? Yeah, the Widget thing may be a bit usless so I could get rid of it, its only cosmetic.

No, not expand the window.. The "command" tab. Do you see where it says..

Startup Item | Command | Location

Expand the command tab to the right so we have an idea of where it is coming from.

Ad aware is mediocre in my experience, and you have to watch out for the free ones sometimes, they are actually spyware themselves.
Amen to that. Yea Ad-aware is not a solve all end all product. But its free and spyware free and non-intrusive. I've run other spyware programs right after running Ad-aware that caught a couple other things that Ad-aware didn't. It amazes me that there are actually programs out there that are advertised to purge your system of spyware when they have spyware components built right into them. Thats just crazy, stupid. I had one piece of spyware get on my computer that basically highjacked my home web page, put more syware on my computer with annoying little pop-ups that kept trying to convince me I needed to buy their software in order to get rid of the spyware they just infected my computer with. That just pissed me off. What is scary is that there are people out there that will actually fall for it. :D

I had the same damn problem, it was McAfee anti-crap! What do you guys this of bitdefender? I'm using that now, just curious to see what you think.

I don't go to any site that uses spyware nor do I use any peer to peer app like limewire or worse, so my machine is pretty much virutally spyware free.

I'm sorry that statement makes me laugh..:)

Spybot S&D is what I use, every time I search it finds around 20 or so conflicts.

why would that sound so funny? I sit behind a secured up to date NAT router, not much of anything hits my machine.

I'd like to know how NAT can stop spyware or virus infections. That's a new one to me.

Its not just the network address translation, its the layered security my router offers in addition to being NAT'd off the internet. I have been running this machine for over two years now with no spyware or viruses to report.

If I turn on the log in my router (which is currently disabled b/c it was getting too large and I didn't care) I see lots and lots of traffic stopping at the router.

I also have it configured to only allow certain ports and have the built in firewall running. So, then could I be just lucky enough to not get any spyware/viruses? Its not luck its how I have my network set up. It is not impossible for spyware to get to my system other ways, like via email, but I do scan things like that. It is more of a lot of problems I had previously no longer effect me since NAT does not allow outside hosts to connect to my network.

I hope that makes sense.
