Hi all,

My familys having problems logging onto their User accounts in Xp.

My account is the only Password protected Admin account that works.

The other 3 family members accounts which ive made Limited accounts just lock the whole system up now and it crashes.

They just dont load to the desktop:mad:

Is this something serius like missing files?

As i said my Admin account works fine:confused:

Any help appreciated

Try changing them to Admin accounts and see if it works.

I tried that and still they do nothing,Just crash and no desktop appers.

Anyway i dont want them to have admin access,Espacialy my young sister messing around with settings:D

It's the curse of the HP.. You better run for the hills.. It's going to come to life soon and start trashing things.. The flickering LED told you so. Don't say I didn't warn you... Watch i Robot if you don't believe me..

lol

It sounds like their profiles are corrupted. Try creating a new account with limited access and see if that works.

I done what you said and still the new one doesnt work.

So i deleted all the Limited accounts and restarted the computer,Then created all the accounts again and restarted.

Then tryed using one of the Limited accounts i made and it just froze when showing the standard windows grassy field desktop again:(

Damn windows is useless,Anyone help!!!!:P

Hmmm. I wish I knew beyond that.

Out of curiosity, try this.. Go into msconfig with your admin account and disable everything on startup. Let me know what happens when you reboot and try to log in to a limited account.

Hey what you said above SirKenin didnt work:o

Although i appreciate your help very much.

Ive now fixed the problem,I found out my Xp cd from under the heaps of other disks i have:D and done a Repair of Xp.

Its working fine now so it must have been a missing or currupt file.

Thanks everyone for your help. ;)

It sounds like your other accounts didn't have proper rights to the Windows directory or something within it, therefore not allowing the shell to start when they logged in. Creating new limited users would still not do anything if the rights won't let them. The easiest fix would have been to check the rights, however.. doing the repair will restore the default access rights as well.
