i recently downloaded several freeware programs and want to remove them from my computer. they include:

-CWshredder
-VundoFix
-Dr.Web cureit
-Look2me destroyer

how do i remove them?

If you don't readily see the option to uninstall them on the programs link simply go into the Control Panel and use the "add/remove programs" tool there to remove them. Some simply create a desktop shortcut and no registry entries where you simply delete the installation folder to remove it. Look for the uninstallers first then the add/remove option. Even after removing them there or on the programs menu link you still may have a folder to remove afterwards.

Keep CWShredder around. You never know when you'll need that again.

The other ones should be in the Control Panel.. Add/Remove programs.. Or, if you surf to the folder that they were installed in you might see an uninstal file. If not, just delete the folder. To make certain that everything is gone, you can use a registry cleaner after that to get rid of any left over mess.

If you were experienced with the registry the first thing to do would be to use the msconfig to remove any of those from starting up with Windows. Once you restarted the system you would then remove the keys in the reg and drag the folders into the recycle bin. Most downloaded freewares and sharewares alike have the uninstall option included. But if not on the Programs menu link look for the uninstall.exe file in the folders them selves.

I agree with SirKenin. Keep the CWShredder around. It's a tiny application and it could come in handy if you get any of its targeted infections.

Actually, is CWShredder even installed, or is it a stand-alone .exe? I can't remember right now.

It's a stand alone executable that you can create a desktop shortcut for. It will catch a few things other removers commonly used will miss. CWShredder doesn't do anything else since there are registtry values created to see it loaded. It's simply a manual tool to use.
